First camping trip of the season..

Since we had a 4 day weekend, the weather was supposed to be great, and no worries, we packed up the pop-up camper and headed north to camp with Grandma Pam and Papa George.
Well of course it didnt all go as planned...
First Bill threw out his back hooking up the camper to the van. He lifted and twisted or something and was down for the count. He couldnt even get up off the floor. Mom and Dad came over to peel him off the floor and they loaded his ol' bones in the van and took him to the chiro. He popped him back into place and it seemed to work, or was it the vicodin and flexiril. After I got everything all loaded up, we headed out to the campground.
The weather was supposed to be 70's and dry.
Friday night/Saturday morning it rained like it was never going to stop. We stayed dry, but its just hard to sleep while listening it pounding on your metal roof wondering if you are going to get leaked on. At about noon, it finally cleared up and really got in the 70's and it was great out. Keira and Connor loved playing in the rocks and Max and Megan enjoyed going down to the playground. Max got to do a little fishing, but I think he got bored because there were no fishies biting.
We had plenty of food and poor little Connor got plenty of mosquito bites.

Spring Concert

All the kids at school put on the Spring Concert and it was very upbeat. There were songs from the Beatles all the way up to some Cyndi Lauper. It was very cute and they all had a good time.

Max's class sang "How much is that doggie in the window?" and the chorus line from "One"

Megan's class sang "Mr. Mistoffelees" from Cats and "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini"

Max's finger

Max, Bill and Megan were all on their way to Tae Kwon Do. Max was so excited that he tied his own belt, and couldn't wait to show the teacher, he forgot to remove his finger from the car door. Poor thing was all swollen up and we are still not sure if he is going to lose his nail or not.

Happy Birthday Mommy!

"P dirtday Mama"

That is what I woke up to this morning. I had Connor screaming this in my face while he was staring at me on my pillow. I looked outside to see what kind of weather we were having today and found these. A flock of flamingos wishing me a happy birthday!

Happy Mothers Day

I had a very happy mother's day. It started off with church and then the chitlins gave me their presents. I got a planter from Max and Megan and the twins gave me the Deadliest Catch game for the xbox. I can't hardly wait to catch some crabs with Sig! I also got a gift certificate for FunFins which is a pedicure by fish.

I was so excited, we hopped in the car right then and went to the mall for me to have this done. It was very weird at first having a bunch of fish chewing on your feet, but you soon get used to it. Keira put her hand in the tank and actually caught one and handed it to Daddy.

Weekend at the farm

We packed up the fam and headed back to Indiana, for a weekend of visiting, schrooming, and kicking back.
We didn't find a whole bunch of schrooms, but it was fun tromping around in the woods looking. I think either the weather was not right for the schrooms, or we may have been a week early for looking. Max enjoyed helping Grandma and Aunt Cindy planting endless amounts of flowers. He also enjoyed handling the two turtles we found and the random frogs and toads hopping around. Megan couldn't wait until the mushrooms were cooked and it was time to eat. She spent lots of time looking for schrooms and finding stuff for her Indiana state report she has to do for school. The twins were some dirty little birds. Keira loved sitting in the gravel and playing with the rocks. I couldn't believe it, this is the princess that needs her hands washed in between doritos. Connor was his usual goofy self. If he wasn't dancing around, he was running, playing and doing just about anything that required movement.

We all stayed in Grandma and Papa's new camper. All of the children stayed in the bunk beds and we had a nice cozy time on fold out couch. We all had a great time.

Here is a video of Connor doing some of his great Elvis moves.

Deep Freeze

Way back in the day when we got married (almost 13 years ago), we sent the top of our wedding cake down to the farm to put in the freezer, since we didn't have room at our apartment. Well we forgot to eat it on our one year anniversary and every anniversary after that. Beth and Cindy were defrosting a freezer out in the barn and came across our cake. We let it defrost and then opened it up. I couldn't believe that it stayed in such great condition. It was actually edible too!! We all had a couple bites of it and lived!! I guess it could have stayed back in the freezer for another 13 years and it probably would have been just as good!
